Tal-y-bont Country House is a spacious, traditional house full of character and with a wealth of period features. Set in half an acre of gardens and dating from the 17th Century, it is thought to have been a toll house on the old Ffestiniog to Harlech Road. It is situated in a rural but accessible location just off the A496 in the glorious Vale of Ffestiniog in the lea of the Moelwyn mountains in North Wales.  To find out more about the area go to www.voff.co.uk

We have three guest bedrooms, all ensuite with shower and/or bath.  There is a family room with king size bed and two singles, a room with king size bed and another with a double bed.  There are flat screen colour televisions with inbuilt dvd player and tea/coffee making facilities in each room.  Guests have their own sitting/dining room with a beautiful westward valley view across fields of sheep to the confluence of the Cynfal and Dwyryd rivers.

There are countless tourist attractions in the local area, such as the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways, Portmeirion village and gardens, historic slate and copper mines and medieval castles. There are many beaches within a short drive, for instance Black Rock Sands near Porthmadog, a long sandy drive-on beach; Borth-y-Gest (a well kept local secret) which you can get to by cliff path and steps and has rocky pools to explore amongst the soft sand, or the one at Harlech which is a beautiful, unspoilt beach approached through protected sand dunes. The area is a walker's paradise with opportunities for walks in ancient woodland, on hills and mountains, by rivers and the coast. There are plenty of mountains to climb, including Snowdon.  For the golf enthusiast, there are championship golf courses, such as the Royal St Davids, Harlech where you can play in the shadow of the magnificent castle which has an outstanding view of the sea. Other activities within easy reach include mountain biking, white water rafting, sailing, kayaking and surfing. If fishing is your hobby, take your pick of river, lake or sea.
